Home Composter Workshop FAQ

A home composter is a simplified, traditional method of composting. It can be created at the comforts of your own home as it uses ingredients that you might already have - plastic bottles, paper scraps and food waste. It is a simple and cost-effective way to recycle kitchen and garden waste.

For this workshop, it is made by using plastic bottles, greens (nitrogen-rich materials) like fruit peels and browns (carbon-rich materials) like paper scraps.

The duration of the home composting workshop is typically around 1.5hours. 

Ecoponics prides itself as an eco-friendly workshop provider. Our workshops focuses on hands-on learning experiences, so participants could gain hands-on experience learning how to make their own home composter and at the same time learn about the science behind composting.

The home composter workshop is perfect for beginners, and participants will be guided step-by-step on how to make their very own composters from scratch, with no experience required.

The session starts of with a theory portion, a lesson on food waste and composting, followed by a step-by-step tutorial to make the home composter.

 

The home composter workshop is suitable for kids. However, for children under the age of 10, we would recommend an adult's supervision such as a parent/guardian/ teacher.

For the home composter workshop, participants are encouraged to bring the following core items:

  • Plastic container/bottle
  • Clean food waste such as fruit peels, egg shells,
    veg stems, salad greens as this type of food waste do not produce foul
    odours.
  • Paper scraps such as newspapers, cardboard.

Home composter  workshops are recommended for school-going children as the workshop would cover topics on sustainability and waste management in Singapore.

Participants will have a hands-on experience in making their own home composters.

The minimum number of pax that we can accommodate for the home composter making workshop would be 5 pax.

The maximum number of pax that we can accommodate for the seed bomb making workshop would depend on your venue.
