To prevent memory rings from forming, you must take special care when you burn your candle for the first time. Memory rings will form if you do not allow the first layer of the candle to fully burn into liquid wax, and this memory ring will remain on the candle henceforth. Therefore, make sure that you melt the first layer of the candle wax evenly.

2. How to Store Your Candle

Especially for coloured scented candles, they have to be stored properly, as both the candle wax and the scents are sensitive to their surrounding temperature, and the light intensity that they are exposed to. Candles should be stored indoors, away from direct sources of light, in a cool and dry place. This will keep the colour of the candle as close to its original colour as possible, preventing its colour from fading or changing. Keeping them in a cool place will also prevent the wax from being melted.

3. Wick Trimming

Candle Maintenance Tips

At times, the wick of the candle burns at a slower rate as compared to the candle wax. When this happens, you have to trim the wick of the candle. Before trimming the wick, make sure that the candle is not lit up, and that the wick has cooled down to room temperature. You may choose to purchase a wick trimmer to do this. Otherwise, a pair of scissors will do just fine.
